Jack London (1876-1916) is best known as an essayist, for his tales of the Klondike Gold Rush Call of the Wild (1903) and White Fang (1906), and his novel The Sea Wolf (1904) and Martin Eden (1909).

His science fiction work includes the dystopian sf novel The Iron Heel (1908) and the post-apocalyptic novella The Scarlet Plague (1912).

He also wrote the novella Before Adam (1907)
