Blade Runner (Ridley Scott, 1982) based on the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (1968) by Philip K. Dick is one of the most sophisticated exploration of androids to date.

Aaron Lipstadt‘s Android (1982) stars Don Keith Opper as Max 404.

Steven Spielberg‘s A.I. Artificial Intelligence (1991) is based on the short story ”Super-Toys Last All Summer Long“ by Brian Aldiss.
